People facing problem to get train, BRTC bus tickets

People are facing difficulties to buy tickets for trains and state run bus services because of quota system and negligence.
Bangladesh Railway felt the largest pressure for tickets on Sunday, the fourth day of the sale of advance tickets at Dhaka and Chittagong railway stations.
Huge people returned from Kamalapur Railway Station after failing to get tickets for journeys to their desired destinations even after waiting since Saturday noon.
Many people also failed to buy advance tickets of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation’s Eid special service as some of the corporation counters were closed.
Bangladesh Railway on Saturday sold advance tickets for July 16.
At Kamalapur station, about 100 hundred people were standing in front of the counters selling tickets for journey to Dewanganj, Dinajpur and Khulna.
The queue was largest at the women’s counter where about 200 women were standing.
Tanjina, Rita, Aleya and Munni Begum alleged at about 2:00pm that they had been standing in the queue since 6:00am.
They alleged that the counter people were too slow and there was no ticket for Mymensingh and Jamalpur.
They demanded at least two counters for women.
Kakoli Akhter, an apparel worker who failed to buy ticket, said that most of the tickets were sold to black marketers which would be available at high price before journey.
New Age Chittagong correspondent reported that Chittagong station felt the largest pressure of people for tickets on Sunday.
Many of them failed to buy tickets for journey on Mymensingh route.
BRTC on Friday started to sell advance tickets for different routes from Dhaka.
Zahedul Islam, a private job holder, went to the corporation’s Kalyanpur bus counter at 11:00am to buy tickets for Rajshahi route and found the counter closed.
Kalyanpur bus depot manager Moniruzzaman said that at that time the counter was closed as he was at meeting at the head office.
New Age correspondent in Barisal reported that 12-day Eid special with 15 triple-deck private launches on Barisal-Dhaka-Barisal route would be started on July 14 from Dhaka.
