People already on move towards Dhaka to join oppn rally

democracy-day

People started moving towards capital Dhaka from Wednesday evening in response to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s call for joining the ‘March for Democracy’ programme scheduled for Sunday.

According to intelligence sources, a large number of leaders and activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance has already begun heading towards the capital from different districts well ahead of the rally fearing that they might be intercepted on the way by the members of the Awami League-led-14 party alliance or the law enforcers on the eve of the public showdown.

Many of them are expected to reach Dhaka in microbuses on Friday undercover of bridal parties as a large number of wedding ceremonies is set to take place in the capital on that day, the sources said.

They said the opposition activists will stay in their relatives or friends houses instead of hotels or guesthouses to avoid law enforcers’ any possible drive.

Besides, many of them will stay in madrasahs and mosques in the capital and on the outskirts of the city so that they may join the March for Democracy programme scheduled to be held in front of BNP’s Noyapaltan central office, the sources added.

On Tuesday evening, Khaleda Zia announced the programme titled ‘March for Democracy’, a new type of public showdown, calling upon people from all walks of life to march towards Dhaka carrying the national flag to press home their long pending demands for having an election under non-party neutral administration.

  1. By barricading BNP Chairperson’s residence, BNP main party office, arresting and brutally harassing opposition party activists and leaders the ruling party has nakedly and shamelessly unclothed ‘democracy’. They seem to have thrown away the last shred of shame and been making the last bite to cling to power. People should in the meantime have known AL was never for real democracy. Since before liberation they imposed on the people their type of democracy which in actuality has been a ‘demoncracy’ and it has shown its canine teeth much more viciously and terrifyingly than ever before. The country is in real danger of losing both democracy and sovereignty because in the garb of so-called ‘chetanadharis’, a big chunk of the intelligentsia has been panicking us with the hobgoblin of Pakistan, pushing the country relentlessly into the cavernous belly of our big neighbor. God save us! .
