Obama greets PM, Bangladesh people on Eid

US President Barack Obama and Philippines President Benigno Aquino III have extended their best wishes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

“On behalf of the American people, I extend to you and the people of Bangladesh best wishes on the joyful occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr,” the US president said in his message.

Obama said, “Over the past month, Muslims in the United States and around the world have shared the tradition of Ramadan with their families and friends, while drawing strength from their faith and helping those less fortunate.”

He said the holy month of Ramadan was a time of renewal of reflection for Bangladesh’s Muslim community. He wished for good health, peace and prosperity of people of Bangladesh and the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Philippines President Benigno Aquino III in his message prayed for more blessings from Allah for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her family and the people of Bangladesh.

“May the ideals of Islam embodied in the observance of fasting, prayers, and offerings bring peace and greater understanding to mankind, most especially on this auspicious day,” Acquino said.
