Nur Hossain shifted to Kashimpur

The prime accused in the sensational Narayanganj 7-murder case Nur Hossain was shifted to Kashimpur high security prison from Dhaka central jail on Sunday afternoon, reports news agency UNB.

Sources at the Dhaka central jail confirmed the shift, saying that he was sent to Kashimpur from Dhaka Central Jail at around 3:00 pm.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, Nur Hossain was shifted to Dhaka central jail from Narayanganj as Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Narayanganj district sent him to jail.

Nur Hossain was shown arrested in 11 cases, including the seven-murder case, filed with Siddhirganj and Fatullah police stations after he was handed over by India last Thursday night.

Earlier on 16 October, an Indian court ordered extradition of Nur Hossain to Bangladesh by December 15 next.

However, the court ordered continuation of the case against two other accused—Khan Sumon and Wahiduzzaman – who were arrested along with Nur Hossain from an apartment in Kolkata on 14 June, 2014.

On 27 April, 2014, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj. At the same time, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.

Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including those of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on 30 April in the same year. The following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was also recovered from the river.

Nur Hossian, a Narayanganj city Awami League leader and also a councillor, and his associates went into hiding following the abduction and killing of the seven people.

Shahidul Islam alias Shahid chairman, father-in-law of slain Nazrul Islam, alleged that some officials of elite force Rab killed Nazrul Islam in exchange for Tk 6 crore from city councillor Nur Hossain.
