No plan to ban religion-based parties: Muhith

Sylhet, Mar 15 (UNB) – Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Friday said the present government has no intention to ban the politics of religion-based political parties in the country.
 
“What we want is to resist the muse of religion,” he said while addressing a views-exchange meeting with haqqni alems at Sylhet Circuit House.
 
Referring to the recent anarchy created by ‘Jamaat-Shibir activists’, Muhith said through such misdeeds Jamaat-Shibir have made it clear that they are least bothered about the country’s interest. “Their only aim is to strengthen their own position and that’s why they’ve created anarchy,”
 
Lauding the role of haqqni alems, the Finance Minister said they have been working for the sake of Islam and assured them of putting forwarding their demands to the Prime Minister.
 
Sylhet City Mayor Badruddin Ahmed Kamran, district AL president Abduz Zahir Chowdhury Sufian, Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, MP, Asad Uddin Ahmed, Allama Abdul Baset Barkatpuri, Shafiqul Haque Amkuni, Abdul Hannan Tapadar were, among others, present on the occasion.
