Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali, who usually hits headlines for wrong reasons, on Sunday advised students not to engage in love affairs and stay away from social networking site Facebook as much as possible.

“Don’t overuse Facebook… make best use of the Internet… falling in love means killing time. You need to be mindful of all these things,” he said.

The minister was addressing the prize-giving ceremony of a literature and cultural competition of Moulvibazar Govt Women’s College on Sunday.

Mohsin Ali observed that the students have to win their places everywhere by dint of their merit and competence.

Going down the memory lane, he said: “Once, I was a student like you. But, today I’m a minister in recognition of my merit and competence.”

The minister also asked the youth to take the country towards progress by building themselves as worthy citizens.

Chaired by Govt Women’s College principal Prof M Shahjahan, the function was also addressed by its former principal Syed Mohammad Foyezullah, Moulvibazar Govt College principal Prof M Shahidullah and police super Tofail Ahmed.
