Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad today slammed the government claiming the ruling Awami League failed to perform its “constitutional duties”.
“It is the constitutional duty of any government to ensure the security of people,” he told at a press conference in his Banani office. “They have failed at it. There is no law and order in the country.”
Also, Ershad, the prime minister’s special envoy, congratulated PM Sheikh Hasina for winning the ‘Champions of the Earth’ and ‘ICT Sustainable Development Award’.
“These awards have created a good image of the country to the world,” he said.
“However, terrorism, politicisation, tender grabbing and lack of good governance in the country have overshadowed the efforts of the prime minister,” Ershad criticised.
The Jatiya Party leader however declined to comment on whether he is willing to shoulder responsibility of the situation being a special advisor to the prime minister.
The politician also rebutted claims of presence of Islamic State in the country in view of the terrorist body claiming responsibility of murders of two foreigners in Bangladesh.
