Observing that the BNP’s threat to launch a movement for fresh polls will be of no use, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Friday reiterated that there will be no national election in the country before 2019.

“They (BNP) have to keep in mind that the country’s people voted Awami League to power for five years. The next general election will be held in due time,” he said while talking to reporters after distributing relief materials among the flood-affected people in Kazipur upazila in the morning.

Nasim, also spokesperson of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, said those whom the people will elect in the next general election will form the government in 2019.

He also said the government has taken all sorts of measures to lessen the sufferings of the flood-hit people.

Deputy commission of Sirajganj Bilal Hossain, civil surgeon Dr Shamsuddin, Sadar upazila chairman Reaz Uddin and Kazipur upazila chairman Mozammel Haque Sarker Bakul were, among others, present.
