No dialogue; election as per constitution: Nasim

Khaleda making political stunt with rhetoric, he says

Turning down opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s call for dialogue to resolve the dispute over the polls-time government, Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said the next general election will be held as per the constitution.

“Only four months are left to hold the parliamentary polls…There’s no scope for holding dialogue within this time. The election will be held under an interim government as per the constitution,” he said.

Nasim said this while addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote at Public Library Auditorium in the city, marking the 88th birth anniversary of country’s first prime minister Tajuddin Ahmed.

Criticising Khaleda Zia for the comment that her party will form a new type of government if it returns to power, Nasim said, “Khaleda Zia will form new type of government with Hefajat, Jamaat and corrupt people, and those who want to confine women within the four walls of their houses and make derogatory comments against women working in garment factories will be made cabinet members.”

Nasim said Khaleda is making political stunts through her rhetoric. “She had pushed the country into backwards when she was in power, and will do the same in the future if she comes to power again.”

Nasim, also the former Home Minister, urged all to be united against the conspiracy to build country without democracy. “Democracy is alternative to democracy…A conspiracy is going to govern the country without elected government after Eid by falsehood and propaganda.”

Environment and Forests minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, among others, spoe at the programme held with Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote president Tarana Halim in the chair.
