The High Court on Wednesday kept pending its verdict to be delivered on Thursday after arguments of both sides were closed in the matter of a writ petition filed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia, challenging the legality of Niko graft case against her.

Hearing the legal arguments from both the sides in the case, a HC bench comprising Justice Md Nuruzzaman Noni and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Khaleda’s lawyer Barrister Ragib Rouf said the High Court has kept pending its verdict to be delivered any day after closing arguments in the trial of the writ petition.
The ACC on December 9, 2007 had filed the Niko graft case against Khaleda and four others in connection with Tk 137.77 in loss caused by signing an oil-gas exploration agreement with Niko during the previous BNP regime.
Later on May 5, 2008, it submitted charges against 11 people including Khaleda.
Khaleda filed a petition with the High Court challenging the legality of the case against her.
Later on July 9 in 2008, the High Court adjourned the proceedings of the case and issued a rule asking the authorities why the proceedings of the case should not be declared illegal.
