Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday said the next general election will be held under the Election Commission, which is working independently.

“The EC will perform the important polls-time works while routine jobs to be done by the government,” the ex-home minister said while addressing the triennial conference and council of district Swechchasebak League.

Central Swechchasebak League president Molla Abu Kawser and convener of district Swechchasebak League Jyoti Chakma, among others, spoke at the programme.

In his address, Nasim said: “Only the present government, led by Sheikh Hasina, has given a guarantee of holding the national election within three months prior to the expiry of her government’s term. There’s no scope to for any caretaker government to come to power.”

“Sheikh Hasina has been relentlessly working for building Bangladesh as an IT-based prosperous country,” the Awami League leader told the conference.

Turing to the ongoing trial of the war criminals, Nasim said those accused of crimes against humanity have been put on trial due to initiatives taken by Sheikh Hasina.

He called upon people to reelect the Awami League in the next general election for the continuation of the country’s development.
