Nepal not to blame for SAARC summit debacle, says minister

Nepal’s foreign minister Prakash Sharan Mahat has claimed that it was not Nepal’s failure that the 19th SAARC summit was postponed.
Speaking at an interaction in Dhulikhel on Friday, Mahat said the summit had come to a halt after some of the member states were unable to participate in the proposed summit in Islamabad, according to The Kathmandu Post.
The summit was postponed due to the conflict between India and Pakistan, said Mahat.
Nepal is the current chair of the regional grouping.
The summit was scheduled to take place in Islamabad in November 9-10, but was postponed after India decided to pull out of it.
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka backed Indian decision.
