Nationalities of Holey Artisan victims disclosed

Nine Italians, seven Japanese, three Bangladeshis and an Indian were killed at Holey Artisan café in Gulshan of Dhaka.

A senior diplomat in Dhaka confirmed the nationalities to The Daily Star this evening.

Detail identities of all the deceased could not be known immediately.

One of the Bangladeshi victims was identified as Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, 20, grandson of Latifur Rahman, Chairman of Transcom Group and Shahnaz Rahman.

Meanwhile, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj claimed that an Indian female student was among the 28 dead at Holey Artisan cafe.

“Tarishi was 19 years old. She passed out from American School Dhaka. Presently, she was a student at Berkeley,” she said in her another tweet.

  1. Its a dark and shameful day not only for this unfortunate nation of ours but all the Muslim Umma around the globe.
    This is not, was not a religious act as no religion in the world preaches vile inhuman acts of terror such as this. Islam is a way of peace, although greatly mis interpreted today, mainly due to ignorance and lack of intelligent understanding of the Quran.
    These youngsters were only the pawn in a very deep ceded conspiracy running over a multi national scenario. The problem can only be solved if we can fathom out the kings queens and ministers behind it all.
    My deepest condolences for the departed souls and their families, may (Surely) Allah SWT will grant them the highest recognition for their pains
