Narayanganj General Hospital emergency unit temporally shut as nurses test positive

Authorities shut down the emergency unit of the Narayanganj 100-bed General Hospital ((Victoria) at Mondolpara for today as two nurses and a ward boy who worked there tested positive for coronavirus.

The emergency unit was declared closed around 10:00pm last night and it will open on Wednesday morning after the unit is disinfected, said Asaduzzaman, residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital.

Outdoor and other services will continue operations, our Narayanganj correspondent reports, quoting the official.

New patients are being advised to go to the 300-Bed Narayanganj Hospital at Khanpur in the city, he added.

The RMO said recently a coronavirus patient, hailing from Bandar upazila of Narayanganj, was taken to the hospital for first aid, before she died of the virus.

Following these issues, hospital authorities sent some nurses and ward boys of the emergency unit to quarantine and collected samples from them.

The emergency unit was temporary shut down last night after the two nurses and a ward boy tested positive according to the report of IEDCR.
