Mustafizur out, Tamim available for Asia Cup

Bangladesh facing a major blow after fast bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman suffered a side strain injury during the last game against Sri Lanka.

According to sources, the 20-year-old pacer went through a scan and it was learned that the fast bowler is likely to miss the remaining games of the Asia Cup and will be under observation for two weeks.

Meanwhile Bangladesh dashing opener Tamim Iqbal, who was blessed with a baby boy on Sunday in Bangkok, has returned home Monday.

The 26-year-old batsman went to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur where he batted at the indoor and spent time with the journalists soon after he reached Dhaka.

The Chittagong lad took a paternity leave from his national duty prior to the Asia Cup. Earlier, he returned from Pakistan Super League (PSL) where he played brilliantly for his side Peshawar Zalmi and scored 267 runs in six matches.

He is likely to play against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup after the Tigers opening pair of Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar struggled to put up a good show so far, said sources.

However, there were no official confirmation till the report was filed but there will be no surprise if the dashing southpaw opened the innings for the Tigers in the Asia Cup where the hosts has a bright chance to reach the final of the event for the second time.
