Munshiganj launch capsize: MV Miraj-4 owner, 6 others sued

 A case was filed on Monday against seven people, including the owner of ‘MV Miraj-4’, in connection with the launch capsize in Munshiganj on Thursday.

Haidar Hossain Akand, sub-inspector of Gazaria Police Station, filed the case early Monday against Khandakaer Anwar Hossain, owner of ‘MV Miraj-4’  and six other identified and 2/3 unidentified people, said Ferdous Hossain, officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station.

The other accused  are-launch master Rafiqul Islam, ticket master Dulal, cabin boy Nurul Islam and three other launch staff- Samsuddin, Mintu and Shahid.

The Sureshwar-bound launch, ‘MV Miraj-4’, carrying over 200 passengers sank near Gazaria Launch Ghat in the Meghna after it was caught by a violent storm on May 15.

The death toll from the launch capsized rose to 56 on Sunday.
