MEDICAL ADMISSION : Test should be taken by public univs

Academics, journalists and cultural activists on Friday said medical admission test should be taken under a public university as health ministry failed to stop repeated question leak.
They expected that the government would leave no stone unturned in uprooting corrupt elements from the academic arena as the career and credibility of genuine students were dependent on it.
They also demanded holding of fresh test for enrolling students in the MBBS and BDS courses of the medical and dental colleges after scraping the recently held test and the ongoing admission process.
They made the demand at a solidarity rally in front of National Museum in the capital in the afternoon.
They also alleged that law enforcers killed a perpetrator to hide and protect the masterminds of the question leak in MBBS and BDS admission test.
Economist Anu Muhammad demanded proper investigation into the death of the UGC official and the question paper leak incident in the interest of identifying the real culprits and ensuring justice to the protesting students.
Well known sculpture Rasha said, ‘We cannot allow the education sector to be destroyed by some vested quarters.’ He demanded immediate action against the people involved in the question leak.
He also sought prime minister’s intervention in resolving the ongoing crisis over question leak and deciding the fate of the protesting students.
Different left-leaning student organisations, politicians, cultural activists, teachers and journalists also expressed solidarity with the demand of the protesting students at the rally.
More than 200 students and their guardians carrying placards gathered at Shahbag and raised different slogans demanding a fresh admission test.
They also announced a rally to be held at Central Shahed Minar today protesting at police attack on their fellow and a press conference at National Press Club where they will show evidence of question leak.
