Maya skips cabinet meeting

The RAB officials have been kept under government surveillance

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya did not join the regular cabinet meeting on Monday.

The minister even did not inform the cabinet division about the reason for his absence.

The Awami League lawmaker is staying at his residence in the capital, privileged staffs of the minister said.

Different reports are being presented in media involving Maya’s family members in the seven murder incident in Narayanganj.

Maya’s son-in-law former Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mahmud was removed from his post as the chief of the Narayanganj RAB unit two days after seven people were abducted on April 27.

Later, the bodies of the victims were recovered from Shitalakkhya River on April 30.

Allegation raised that Tarek was involved with the seven-murder incident. Later, he along with two other RAB officials, was forced retired from the elite force. The RAB officials have been kept under government surveillance.
