Matia blasts US embassy

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Sunday severely blasted the US embassy in Dhaka for what she said siding with Jamaat-e-Islami by urging the government for a dialogue with the anti-liberation war force.

Speaking at the parliament, Matia termed Jamaat as an anti-Liberation War element and attacker on police members at different parts of the country and said: “I strongly protest and criticise those who urge to sit with the attackers on police.”

Immediate after Matia, another senior Awami League lawmaker, Tofail Ahmed, criticised the US embassy’s call for a dialogue.

The embassy on November 15 expressed deep concern over the recent countrywide violence and urged for a dialogue for resolving differences.

Speaking on point of order, Tofail said: “I became surprised how the country [USA] that launches drone attack to kill militants and terrorists in Pakistan, can urge to sit with a militant organisation like Jamaat.”

Launching a blistering attack on US Ambassador Dan W Mozena, Matia during the unscheduled discussion said: “Would his [Mozena] country sit for ‘love talk’ with the force that attack on their police force?”

“This is nothing but hypocrisy. Urging for a dialogue with the attackers will inspire them,” a lamented Matia said amid thumping of desks by lawmakers.

She also said it is impossible to make anyone agree to do anything by dint of power. “They [US] have observed this once in 1971 and they will see this again at present.”

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and a host of other ruling alliance lawmakers including Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, AL MP Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim also strongly lambasted the Jamaat and Shibir for recent violent attacks on police.

  1. That ugly old woman who spews hatred to satisfy her Master has no place in a news string. She is extremely ugly when she makes remarks about Khaleda Zia and others. She should find a boy friend. She has been deprived of love for decades.

  2. I propose that Ugly Motia and Baksali Tofayel’s U.S. visa should be revoked by U.S. Embassy as soon as possible.
