Legal notice sent to Tarique for calling Bangabandhu ‘Pakbandhu’

Tarique Rahman, in a discussion programme has termed Bangabandhu a ‘Pakbandhu’

A Supreme Court lawyer has sent legal notice to BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman for calling Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a “Pakbandhu”.

Mamtaj Uddin Ahmad, former secretary of the Supreme Court Lawyers Association, sent the legal notice to BNP’s Nayapaltan office and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s residence in the capital on Sunday morning.

In the legal notice, an explanation from Tarique was asked within seven days about his comment on Bangabandhu.

Tarique Rahman, in a discussion programme held at York Hall in East London, UK, on September 29, termed Bangabandhu a ‘Pakbandhu’.

On October 19, Advocate Moshiur Malik, president of Bangabandhu Foundation filed a complaint against Tarique for making such a comment on Bangabandhu with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) court.
