Latif Siddiqui’s motorcade attacked in Tangail

Independent candidate Abdul Latif Siddiqui’s car has reportedly been attacked during a campaign in Kalihati upazila of Tangail on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning when Latif Siddiqui and his supporters were electioneering in Kalihati’s Gohalia Bari area.

“Because of the instigation of local Awami League MP Hasan Imam Khan, my motorcade was attacked, some of my supporters were also injured in the attack. At least four cars, including mine, were vandalized,” said Latif Siddique.

In protest to the attack, Siddiqui and his supporters are staging a sit-in program near the district’s deputy commissioner and returning officer’s office since 2pm.

He said the protest will continue till an environment for a fair election is created.
