No wonder, the country has the long tradition of worshiping sex in their ancient religious belief.
However, last week’s report about Assam rape festival raised hue and cry in the Indian media with the Indian Prime Minister himself taking up the matter in a formal press conference .
Refering to a satirical story published in an American online media National Report, Prime Minister of India had to tell the press that “This defiant act against the great people of India will not be tolerated, America has gone too far this time. This rape festival story is not funny whatsoever. The country of India is ending it’s diplomatic relations with the United States until we have received a sincere apology from President Barack Obama.”
However, Kolkata Film festival brought the opportunity to watch a plethora of ‘bold’ films like The Look of Love, Paradise: Love, Young & Beautiful, Pieta, Love Battles et al – all containing erotic scene of sex and nudity.
French filmmaker and writer, Claire Denis doesn’t often try anything conventional. Her noir thriller, Bastards, is all about families, money and sexual turmoil.
The Future, directed by Chilean director Alicia Scherson, is adapted from Roberto Bolano’s novel, focusing on a pair of teenage orphans in Rome. Bianca struggles to hold it together, taking care of her brother, Tomas. Then Tomas brings home two bodybuilders from his gym. The two guests plan a heist for which they convince Bianca to initiate a sexual relationship with a former action movie-star, Maciste.
Kolkata film festival was inaugurated on Sunday , November 10 when a rich galaxy of stars from the Indian film fraternity descended on Kolkata.
At the inauguration of the 19th Kolkata International Film Festival at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on Sunday, superstar Amitabh Bachchan mesmerized the audience with his well-researched speech — generously laced with the local Bengali language — that delved deep into the contribution of Bengali literature to Indian as well as Bengali cinema over the last 100 years.
The veteran found an apt ally in superstar Kamal Haasan, a first-time visitor to the festival, who won hearts by describing himself as ‘one among you’ and whose anthem of love, he claimed, was a Bengali one. Haasan and Bachchan had Bengal brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun Chakrabarty, Jaya Bachchan and Prosenjit Chatterjee for company on the stage, along with a host of Bengali film actors. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee presided over the inauguration.
Earlier, the evening got off to a glittering start with Bachchan, Haasan, Mithun, Jaya and several Tollywood celebrities lighting the ceremonial lamp. Jaya took it upon herself and called upon Mithun to address the crowd on behalf of the non-real Bengalis-husband Bachchan and Shah Rukh .
