The DB police arrested the BNP Chairperson’s Advisor when emerging from an event at the National Press Club on Tuesday.

He was shown arrested in a case filed in connection with an explosion at the office of the deputy commissioner in Dhaka City’s Ramna Zone.

The court on Wednesday ordered remanded him in police custody for two days.

Police alleged the BNP leader had incited acts of sabotage in his speech at various press conferences and discussions.

BNP had called for ‘open resistance’ to the Jan 5 national elections, which they boycotted.

Bombs were hurled at the Police Commissioner’s office the day before the polling and during the Opposition’s strike and blockade aimed at foiling the election.

Two other BNP leaders, Selima Rahman and Fazlul Haq Milon, have also been accused in the case.
