Khaleda to visit damaged temple in Munshiganj Friday

Dhaka, Mar 14 (UNB) – BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to Munshiganj on Friday to visit a Hindu community’s temple recently damaged by miscreants at Goalimandra Monipara in Louhajang upazila.
 
The BNP chief will start her journey from her Gulshan residence around 3pm to see for herself the damaged temple, her press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told UNB on Thursday night.
 
Unidentified miscreants torched the temple at the dead night of March 3.
 
After visiting the temple, Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, will address a roadside rally at Goalimandra Bazar.
 
Later, she will leave the district for the capital.
 
On Saturday, Khaleda will go to recent violence-hit Singair upazila in Manikganj district to console the affected people.
 
The former premier is likely to reach Gobindhal village in the upazila at 3pm, where three people were killed on February 24 in a fierce clash between police and villagers during a countrywide daylong hartal enforced by 12 Islamic and like-minded parties.
 
The BNP chief will talk to the relatives of the victims and give them cash assistance on behalf of her parry.
 
On her way back to Dhaka, she is expected to address a wayside rally in the upazila headquarters.
 
Scores of people were killed in the recent violence erupted following the February 28 judgment of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 against Jamaat-e-Islami nayeb-e-ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee sentencing him to life term imprisonment for perpetrating crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
 
Houses and worship places of minority people also came under attack at different parts of the country following the violence.
