Khaleda to meet press Wednesday

Three days after the installation of the new government following the 10th national election on January 5 amid her alliance’s boycott, leader of the 18-party combine Khaleda Zia is going to meet the press on Wednesday.

“The press conference will be held at 4pm at the ballroom of Westin Hotel,” BNP chairperson’s media wing member Khairul Kabir Khan told UNB.

At the press conference, Khaleda Zia will formally express their observations about the January 5 national election and spell out their next course of action.

The decisions was taken at a meeting between Khaleda and top leaders of the alliance on Monday night held at BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.

After nearly two months, Khaleda sat with the top leaders of the 18-party around 9pm to discuss the country’s latest political situation and work out their action plan.

The 18-party alliance boycotted the election demanding that it be held under a non-party caretaker government, a demand turned down by the Awami League government.

Awami League eventually won the election and formed the government on Sunday for the second consecutive term.
