Khaleda to meet President Tuesday evening

In the wake of formation of an election-time cabinet, BNP Chairperson and opposition leader Khaleda Zia is going to meet President Abdul Hamid Tuesday evening to seek his initiatives for resolving the deepening political crisis.

Opposition leader’s personal secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed told UNB that Khaleda will go to Bangabhaban at 6:30 pm on Tuesday as per the schedule given by the President’s office.

Earlier, BNP vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury told UNB that the opposition leader sought an appointment to meet the President.

BNP sources said Khaleda sought appointment for a 20-member delegation, led by her, to meet Hamid.

Meanwhile, six ministers and two junior ministers were sworn in today (Monday) as part of the process to form a much-talked-about election-time cabinet to oversee the next general election without opposition BNP and three other parties having representation to parliament.

According to sources close to Khaleda, she will apprise the President about their stance and deep concern over the evolving political situation following the formation of the polls-time cabinet.

They said the former premier will request Hamid to take steps to resolve the crisis over election-time government through talks between the ruling and opposition camps.
