Khaleda staged drama over red phone: Dipu

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Friday alleged that opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s claim of becoming her red phone out of order was nothing but a drama.

“The opposition leader staged a drama over the red phone. She (Khaleda) claimed that her red phone was inoperative. But when a mechanic had been there to fix it he was not allowed to enter her residence, she said.

Dipu Moni came up with the allegation while addressing a rally arranged by the local unit of Awami League at Hasan Ali High School ground here on Friday evening.

Criticising the opposition leader for what she said  not withdrawing the 60-hour hartal despite the prime minister’s phone call to here within her deadline, the minister said people of the country does not have confidence in Khaleda as she did not keep her words.

Dipu Moni said the BNP-led 18-party alliance is creating anarchy across the country in the name of hartal and pursing the politics of killing.

Mentioning that the caretaker government provision is illegal as per the verdict of the Supreme Court, she said the next election must be held in line with current constitutional guidelines.
