Khaleda returns home from S Arabia

BNP Chairperson and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia returned home on Tuesday ending her 10-day visit to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah.

A regular flight of Emirates Airlines carrying the BNP Chairperson and her entourage reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 6:06pm, her press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel told UNB.

Several hundred leaders and activists of the BNP and its front organisations, including party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee member MK Anwar and vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka, received Khaleda Zia at the airport.

Later, she drove straight to her Gulshan residence.

The opposition leader went to Saudi Arabia on July 27 at the invitation of the Saudi government.

During her stay in Saudi Arabia, the BNP chief performed Umrah, offered ziarat at the holy Rowja Mubarak of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), offered special prayers at Masjid Al-Haram and passed the holy night of Shab-e-Qadr there through special prayers.

The BNP chief also offered munajats (special prayers) seeking divine blessings as well as continued peace, progress and prosperity of Bangladesh, its people and the Muslim Ummah.

Bedsides, the former premier exchanged greetings with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who also went there to perform Umrah.

Khaleda’s younger brother Shamim Eskander, his wife Kaniz Fatema, private secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed and photographer Nuruddin Ahmed accompanied the opposition leader.
