Khaleda goes to Munshiganj Wednesday

Munshiganj unit BNP is all set to hold a rally of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in the district on Wednesday.

“All preparations for holding the rally of the BNP chairperson in Munshiganj have already been completed. The rally will be held at Hart Laxmiganj near the Munshiganj Launch Ghat,“ said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he said the rally will be arranged to register the party’s protest against the countrywide killings, forced disappearances and abductions, and widespread corruption by the current regime.

Khaleda, also a former Prime Minister, will address the rally as the chief guest.

Asked whether the government is cooperating with them in arranging the rally, Rizvi said they have so far not faced any obstacle from the government side.

He said the BNP chief will start her journey for Munshiganj from her Gulshan residence around 1:30pm.

The government earlier did not give permission BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to hold rallies in Narayanganj and the capital’s Jatrabari and Institution of Engineers’, Bangladesh.

Criticising the government for blocking BNP’s programme, Rizvi said, “The government has sent on exile the fair and healthy practice of politics and democracy.”

He accused the government of patronising godfathers, and said the country is now under the rule of godfathers obliterating the rule of law.

The BNP leader warned the government that it will not be able to resist people from taking to the streets to ensure its fall by carrying out repressive acts.
