Khaleda congratulates Modi

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has greeted BJP leader Narendra Modi, who is set to become the next premier of India, as his party and its allies are on the way to form the next government with the clear majority in the parliament.

On behalf of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, the party’s Vice-Chairman Shamser Mubin Chowdhury conveyed the greetings to Narendra Modi through the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

Shamser Mubin Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune: “Although the official results are yet to be announced, it is clear that Modi is going to lead the next government as BJP-led NDA have win 309 seats out of 543 so far.”

In her written message the BNP chairperson said: “On behalf of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP and on my own behalf, I extend to you our heartiest felicitations on the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party at the just concluded Lok Shabha elections in India.”

“The strong mandate given to the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance under your leadership is clear testimony to the trust and confidence the people of India have on you to lead them in the future,” she added.
