A Dhaka court on Tuesday asked Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it on March 28 in connection with 11 cases, including a sedition case for her remarks about the number of martyrs during the 1971 Liberation War.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order after hearing a time petition filed by Khaleda’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia.
Her bail will be cancelled if Khaleda Zia fails to appear before it on that day, said the court order.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia skipped the trial proceedings of 11 cases today on health ground.

‘BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia won’t be able to appear before different Dhaka courts today as she is sick,’ her lawyer Sanaullah Mia.

Of the 11 cases, eight were filed with Darus Salam and two others with Jatrabari police stations in connection with arson attacks on vehicles in 2015 while the other was filed with a Dhaka court on sedition charge for her remarks on the number of Liberation War martyrs.
