Mentioning that the ruling Awami League doesn’t believe in the politics of vengeance, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said detained BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has a maid servant in jail, which is very much rare in the world.

“We have set an example in the world as we give a maid servant for Khaleda Zia in the jail. There is no such example in the world,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina also said Khaleda Zia is in jail for embezzling money of orphans and the caretaker government had lodged the case.

The Awami League president made the remarks while addressing the meeting of Awami League National Committee at her official residence Ganabhaban on Wednesday, report BSS and UNB.

She urged the countrymen to stay alert so that the “looters and arsonists” could not grab the state power again

Sheikh Hasina added the arsonists and grenade attackers, looters of orphans’ money, interest mongers and bribe-takers must not be allowed to come to power again.

The Prime Minister further said, “Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman all are killers…they’re the family of killers. They just know killing, corruption and money embezzlement, nothing else.”

She said the country always moved forward when Awami League was in office and urged all to review what the nation actually achieved when others like Ziaur Rahman and his wife Khaleda Zia were in the helm of affairs.

“The country had rather turned into a land of terrorism, militancy, corruption, and famine whenever BNP was in power,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina also described now imprisoned BNP chief and ex-premier Khaleda Zia as the “godmother of terrorism” referring to the protracted nationwide violent street campaigns spearheaded by the party and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami in 2014 and 2015.

Talking about the health condition of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, she said her knee problem is a very old one. “After coming to power in 1991, she underwent knee-cup surgery in the USA and she did the same later in Saudi Arabia,” she said.

Hasina mentioned Khaleda Zia was seen sitting in a wheelchair while doing shopping abroad and performing hajj. “At that time, Falu (Mosaddeq Hossain Falu) pushed the wheelchair,” she added.

The Prime Minister thanked the people of the country for not forgetting the miserable misrules of BNP-Jamaat clique during their regimes and did not vote for them in the 2008 election.

“As a result, BNP got only 29 seats in the 2007 election, many people now forget this matter,” Hasina said.

She said how the party that bagged only 29 seats in the 2008 election and involved in killings and arson attacks could hope people will vote for them and put them in power again!

Briefly describing various development activities of the government, the Prime Minister said Awami League always works for people and the country.

“We’re advancing the country…Awami League in power means development of the country and welfare of its people, and honour for Bangladesh in the international arena,” she said.

She also said the government and the Awami League will celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence and the government has announced March 17, 2020 to March 26, 2021 as Mujib Borsho for that.
