JSD demands quick execution of verdict, ban on Jamaat

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Wednesday voiced satisfaction over the ICT verdict against Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid.

“We express our satisfaction over the verdict. Freedom fighters and patriotic people of the country will also be happy over it,” Inu said in a party release.

Inu, along with JSD General Secretary Sharif Nurul Ambia, in the joint statement demanded quick execution of the verdict.

They also demanded a ban on Jamaat politics as a ‘terror organisation’ considering its destructive activities and killings before and after the verdict.

The special court in the capital awarded death penalty to Mujahid for his crimes against humanity during Bangladesh’s war of independence 42 years back.

He could not avert the capital punishment as five out of seven charges brought against him have been proved beyond doubt.
