Jatiya Party (Manju) will take part in the ensuing 10th parliamentary election.
“It is badly needed to hold (parliamentary) election. There is no alternative to election to continue the constitutional process,” said JP chairman Anwar Hossain Manju, talking to reporters after a views exchange meeting with ruling Awami League led 14-party alliance at its president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in the city.
“We’re in favour of election… we’ll take part in the election,” added Manju, also former Communications Minister of the previous Awami League government.
Asked whether the polls without BNP will be acceptable, Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim replied in the affirmative.
He said: “Election will be an acceptable one if majority voters can exercise their franchise. You’ll see the next polls will be credible. It doesn’t matter how many parties take part in the polls. We’ve been continuing our parley with JP (Manju) and other parties.”
Nasim also said the all-party government will be led by Sheikh Hasina and there will be no compromise in this regard.
Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon said: “We still think the next (parliamentary) polls will be held with the participation of all. But if anyone acts to foil it without participating, s/he will be resisted.
