Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Joy, who also advises her on ICT affairs, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, again described the BNP chairperson as a ‘Pakistani agent’.

He shared a bdnews24.com report titled, ‘Pakistan lobbies for BNP chief Khaleda Zia in Commonwealth’, in the post.

“I’ve said before that Khaleda Zia is a Pakistani agent. She has repeatedly taken money from ISI agents for elections,” Joy wrote.

“She had made war criminals ministers. Now, the Pakistani Government is openly lobbying on her behalf,” he added.

To favour Khaleda, Pakistan had proposed a discussion on Bangladesh’s situation at the recent Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group’s (CMAG) meeting in London, a highly-placed diplomatic source told bdnews24.com.

The move was ‘rejected’ by the other member states, he said.

Sartaj Aziz, the Pakistan prime minister’s advisor on foreign affairs, raised the Bangladesh issue, saying the last election in Bangladesh had not been ‘a proper election’, as it was held amid a boycott by the BNP.

He also said that the Bangladesh government was influencing the judiciary.

Jamaat-e-Islami, a party that sided with the Pakistani forces during the Liberation War, is a key BNP ally.

Jamaat chief Motiur Rahman Nizami and secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid were made ministers during a BNP term in office.

Mujahid has been hanged for war crimes, while Nizami’s execution is imminent for similar atrocities committed during the war.
