Japanese gunned down in Rangpur

Unknown assailants gunned down a Japanese citizen at Kachu–Alutari near Sahebganj in Kawnia of Rangpur around 10:00am on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Kunio Hoshi, 50.
The killing took place barely a week inside the killing of Italian Tavella Cesare in similar style.
Kunio used to cultivate Koyel grass [ a herbal medicine ] taking lease two acres of lands from one Sha Alam of the area for about six months ago. He used to live in a rented house at Munshipara in Rangpur. Witnesses and police said he was on the way to his farm by a rickshaw around 9:30am.
As reached the farmland, two of the three attackers opened fire on him. He fell down in the ground. Hearing the gunshots, locals rushed the spot and took the victim to Rangpur Medical College & Hospital on a battery-run three-wheeler.
Police detained four in this connection. Police cordoned off the murder scene.
Rangpur superintendent of police, Abdur Razzak, deputy commissioner Mohammad Rahat Anowar went to spot and is staying over there till filing the report.
Superintendent of police, Abdur Razzak said, the foreigner last entered in Bangladesh on August 28, 2015 [according to his passport]. However, the SP refused to say his visa quality. Police recovered three blank bullet shells from the scene.
The police officer said they were yet to have any idea about the attackers.
Two attackers shot him in front of one Khoka Mia’s house 100 yards away from his farm lands and one was waiting on the road starting a motorbike. They left the scene soon after the firing.
Police detained four persons in this connection. The detainees are – rickshaw puller Monnaf Hossain, 35, resident of Alamnagar area of the city, Murad Hossain, 30, s/o Khoka Mian, Jahangir Bala owner of the house at Munshipara area of the city in which he rented and Humayun Kabir Hira, 40 resident of Robertsongonj, Alamnagar area of the city.
The SP said police remained active to find out the motive of the killing and to arrest the criminals.
A witness, Mostafa Hossain , a glosser, said they heard the gunshots and three people fleeing the scene riding in a bike.
Mostafa said locals rushed the spot and took the victim in a battery run auto-rickshaw and shifted him in a pick-up van at Sathmatha area of the city to transfer him at RMCH immediately .
The director of RMCH, Md Barkatullah said, the foreigner died on the way to hospital. ‘We found him dead when he reached at the hospital. He was shot in chest, wrist and neck.’
Police, RAB and Police Bureau of Investigation members cordoned off the crime scene.
