Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday called a nationwide general strike for Sunday denouncing the Supreme Court’s upholding the death sentence for its amir Motiur Rahman Nizami for his war crimes in 1971.
The party’s acting amir Moqbul Ahmad in a statement announced a three-day programme including general strike immediate after the Supreme Court announced the verdict.
The party would observe doa dibas (prayer day) on Friday and would go out on demonstration on Saturday.
