Islami Andolon to lay siege to PMO April 25

Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Friday announced to lay siege to the Prime Minister’s Office on April 25 demanding arrest of ‘atheist bloggers who insulted Islam ‘ and to pass law for punishing those who ‘insulted Islam in the parliament’.

It also announced its’ support to the “Long March Towards Dhaka” from all districts on April 6 declared by the Hefazate Islam Bangladesh, a Qaumi madrasa based organisation, if the government does not take initiative to arrest and punish the ‘atheist bloggers’ by March 5.

The party’s Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim (Pir Shaheb Charmonai) on Tuesday announced this while addressing a national grand rally at Motijheel intersection in the capital.

He also announced to submit a memorandum to the UN office in Dhaka on April 4 demanding an end to ‘Muslim genocide’ in Myanmar and hold long march towards Myanmar on May 8 and 9 protesting ‘Muslim genocide and arson attack on mosque, madrasas and Muslim residences in Myanmar.’

The Islami Andolon held the grand rally to press home its five demands — restoration of the phrase ‘Absolute trust and faith upon Almighty Allah’ in basic principles of the constitution, passing law to punish atheist; holding of national election under an impartial government; ensuring good governance and justice, uprooting terrorism and corruption and establishing Islamic rule for a prosperous and welfare state.

Rezaul Karim announced to hold road marches from Dhaka to Kuakata on April 19, 20 and 21; from Dhaka to Tetulia on May 13, 14 and 15; from Dhaka to Sylhet on June 2 and 3 and to hold a ‘workers-public’ rally on May 1 in Dhaka to create public opinion in favour of the party’s six-point demand.

Addressing the rally, the party chief also sought vote for his party’s symbol ‘hand fan’ in the next general election for building a better Bangladesh.

“The incumbent and previous governments have nurtured corruption, violence, nepotism and other different evil-practices during last few decades. Islami Andolan Bangladesh should be voted to power to get rid of this situation,” he said.

Dozens of IAB top level leaders including party’s presidium members also spoke at the function.
