Bangladesh has made a significant progress than its next door neighbours India and Pakistan in terms of personal security, says a recent study.

According to the recently released 2015 Gallup law and order index, Bangladesh fares better than India and Pakistan when it comes to the “personal security.”

Bangladesh has scored 78 points in the index while India and Pakistan scored 67 and 60 respectively. Another South Asian neighbour Sri Lanka gained better position than Bangladesh by scoring 79 points.

The country that witnessed murders of two foreign nationals within a week, has also scored better than the United States and Australia.

Singapore secured top place in the index scoring 89 points while Liberia got the lowest score by securing 40 points.

The study measured people’s sense of personal security in their neighborhoods and their personal experiences with crime and law enforcement worldwide.

The higher the index score, the higher the proportion of residents in a country who feel safe.

The Global Law and Order 2015 report presents the results from Gallup’s latest measure of people’s answers to these questions, based on more than 142,000 interviews with adults in 141 countries in 2014.
