India compensates family of Bangladeshi killed by BSF

The Indian government for the first time has provided compensation of Rs 5,00,000 to the family members of a Bangladeshi national killed in firing by its Border Security Force (BSF).

 

Md Shah Alam, 40, son of late Abul Kashem Mal of village Atarpara under Bagha Police Station in Rajshahi district, was killed in BSF firing at Alaipur near frontier pillar 81/9 S under 37 Border Guard Battalion (former 37 Rifles Battalion) in Rajshahi on November 9, 2010.

 

BGB sources said Commander of Rajshahi Sector BGB Colonel Sarker Mohammad Shamsuddin formally handed over a bank draft of Indian Rupee 5,00,000 to Beauty Khatun, the widow of Shah Alam, at a programme on Sunday morning.

 

Commanding Officer of 37 BGB Battalion Lt Col Shammi Firoz and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
