Illogical question to disband RAB: Quader

Communications minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said that it is illogical question to disband the elite anti-crime force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) for its two or one official’s activities.

“The BNP-led alliance government formed RAB and gave independence award during its tenure,” he told journalists while visiting Sylhet-Companyganj Road in Sylhet.

The minister said, “We are talking with China for construction of the Padma Bridge, but the BNP hinted that China would leave from the project.”

Referring to the BNP’s comments, he said the BNP thronged bricks in darkness, as it does not get issue to arrange movement.

He said, “It’s a serious patient suffering from cancer. There must be an FCPS, no MBBS can cure it.”

He also said, “One cannot imagine how the people here are suffering, if one does not come here.”

He also admitted that it was the failure of the communications ministry.

He then on his cell phone ordered authorities concerned to start work on the road within two days.

Mentioning the allocation of Taka 600 crore for the road, he said the work on the road would start after the rainy season.

Former lawmaker Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, local Awami League leaders and the officials of the administration were present during the visit.

Earlier, Obaidul Quader exchanged views with local journalists in Molvibazar and said the ministry will take a project to upgrade Dhaka-Sylhet-Tamabil road into four-lane within short time.
