Illegal establishments evicted from footpaths in DSCC drive

Dhaka South City Corporation evicted around 100 makeshift establishments illegally occupying footpaths of several areas, including Dhakeshawri Road, Azimpur Etimkhana Road and its adjoining areas in the city on Thursday.
Sources at the DSCC said the city corporation’s executive magistrate Khan Md Nazmus Shoeb along with adequate number of police conducted the drive from 11:30am, and it continued till 1:00pm.
Contacted, executive magistrate Khan Md Nazmus Shoeb said around 100 illegal small makeshifts, which were built grabbing footpaths and city streets, were removed during the drive.
The drive was conducted as part of DSCC’s initiative to free the footpaths from illegal occupation and allow smooth movement of pedestrians, he added.
