Human factor responsible for glitch in PM’s flight, says minister

Human factor was responsible for the glitch that caused emergency landing of the aircraft carrying prime minister Sheikh Hasina on November 27. Civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon came up with the comment at a press briefing at secretariat on Sunday. He made the comment after a five-member probe committee of civil aviation ministry submitted its report to the minister over the matter on Sunday. Whether human factor was intentional or unintentional, a legal step will be taken to look into the matter, the minister said. And the decision over taking legal step will be made after a meeting with prime minister, he added. Earlier, three separate probe committees were formed by the Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, and civil aviation and tourism ministry over the glitch in the flight carrying PM. On November 30, six officials and on December 14, three engineers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were suspended for their negligence of duty in the flight. The Biman flight, carrying the prime minister, had to make an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on her way to Budapest on November 27 following low oil pressure to its engine. Following its necessary repair work, the flight left Ashgabat Airport after a delay of over four hours.
