Condemning the killing of Hefajat activists during their May 5 programme in the capital, they also demanded unconditional release of their arrested leaders and activists.
The Hefajat leaders came up with the demands while addressing a rally at Banadar Bazar Paper Point in the city.
Sylhet unit city Hefajat president Mawlana Shahinur Pasha Chowdhury, general secretary Mufti Fazlul Haque Jalalabadi, vice president Maulana Nasir Uddin, among others, addressed the rally.
Earlier, they brought out a procession from Bandar Bazar Jam-e-Mosque after jum’a prayers and paraded different city streets.
They said implicating Babunagri, an eminent Islamic scholar, in ‘false’ cases, the government put him under a police remand and tried to kill him.
He is now undergoing treatment at Birdem Hospital in a critical condition, the Hefajat leaders said, warning that the government will have to shoulder the responsibility if anything happens to him.
The Hefajat leaders alleged that killings and filing of cases would not deter them from realising their 13-point demand and they would declare a tougher programme if their demands go unheeded.

Election Commission cannot shut peoples mouth & prevent them from expressing their grievances or describing the incidents as it happened. Guilty party is the thuggish government. And election time is the best time to pin point their crimes and criminal records. Every person has the RIGHT to speak out. Election commissions people are supposed to be educated people and as such how they say HEFAJAT HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK POLITICS! Their talk would hurt the AL but Election Commission’s task is not to protect the criminal A.L. There crimes MUST BE TOLD AND SPELT OUT BY EVERYONE WHO HAD THE KNOWLEDGE. Moulana Farid Uddin Masud sahib is an Imam and as such claims to be a NAYEB-E-Rasul. But his insulting , abusing, and unacceptable vocabulary he used to compare Prof. Ghulam Azam as ” WORST THAN A SATAN” is not the vocabulary of our prophet, peace be upon him, his noble companions, peace be upon them all or his Nayebs, May Allah bless them all.
It has been reported by a section of pro Hasina Bangladeshi media that this moulana Sahib has opined that ” MAKING HUMAN STATUE IS FORBIDDEN IN ISLAM BUT IN SHEIKH MUJIB’S CASE THERE SHOULD BE AN EXCEPTION, BECAUSE HE WAS THE FATHER OF THE NATION “. We know not if it was true. If it is true then Moulana Sahib needs to explain this to the Muslim masses in this country. And does he accept that the apostate bloggers committed apostasy by insulting Islam & everything that is Islamic.? If the answer is yes would he at least condemn them?
Moulanas like Farid Sb are none but hired ones who can sell Most Gracious Allah’s kalaam-e-pak for trifles. And Allah Almighty has described such traders of kalaam-e-pak as residents of HELL.
