Hamid’s son runs for Kishoreganj-4

 

The Awami League has officially picked Rejwan Ahmed Toufiq, son of President Abdul Hamid, to run for the by-elections to the Kishoreganj-4 constituency.

The decision was taken at a meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, of the party’s Parliamentary Board at her official residence Ganabhaban on Monday night, General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam told reporters.

The parliamentary seat, composed of nine Unions of Itna, seven Unions of Mithamain and eight Unions of Astagram Upazilas, fell vacant after its seven-time MP Hamid was elected President on Apr 22.

There are in total 279,719 voters in the constituency of the former Speaker Hamid.

The by-election is slated for July 3.
