News - Govt considers Malaysia’s proposal on Padma Bridge: Obaidul
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said the government is considering with priority the Malaysia’s proposal to construct the much-hyped Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

He said this while speaking at a views-exchange meeting with leaders and activists of district Awami League and its front organisations at the local Circuit House.

The minister also said the government would consider if any other party comes up with proposal to construct the bridge.

He said works on the Padma Bridge have already begun. “Around 90 percent preparatory works, including land acquisition and rehabilitation of the affected people, have already been completed,” he said, adding that the main work on the bridge would begin under the current regime.

District Awami League president Alhaz Sardar Mohammad Shah Alam, general secretary Advocate Khan Saifullah Panir, Jahalakati-1 MP Bazlul Haque Harun and municipality mayor Afzal Hossain, among others, addressed the views-exchange meeting.
