He said they are ready to contest from all 300 constituencies

Jatiya Party Co-Chairman GM Quader has said his party wants the parliamentary election to be held under the elected government as they did not get level playing field in the elections under any caretaker government.

“We did not get level playing field in the elections under any caretaker government. So, we want the polls under elected government,” he told a discussion marking Democracy Day at the party chairman’s Banani office in Dhaka on Saturday, reports BSS.

Quader said if BNP participates in the election, Jatiya Party will contest the polls from the Awami League-led grand alliance.

He also said the Jatiya Party is taking preparation to contest from all 300 constituencies.

Jatiya Party Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader said all political parties took part in the 1986 election except BNP. The party again boycotted the previous election in 2014.

He said it is not clear whether the party will join the 11th parliamentary election or not.

BNP has not yet decided on participating in the election, slated for December 23.

Jatiya Party Presidium Members Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Sunil Suvo Roy, Mujibul Haque Chunnu and Mashiur Rahman Ranga, among others, addressed the discussion with Party’s Dhaka City North unit President SM Faisal Chisti in the chair.
