Get ready to oust this corrupt regime: Khaleda

BNP to stamp out corruption if it returns to power

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday called upon people to get united for what she said saving the country from the hands of the extremely corrupt and repressive regime.

“This government is extremely corrupt and highly oppressive. Get united to save the country from its hands,” she told an iftar party.

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), a partner of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, hosted the iftar in honour of politicians at Trust Auditorium in the city.

Speaking briefly prior to the Iftar, Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, said there will be no peace in the country until this grand alliance government is ousted.

Mentioning that the country is passing through a deep crisis, the BNP chief said the country will be free from corruption and terrorism if the present government is gone from power. “Let’s pray to the Almighty Allah in the holy month of Ramadan to get rid of this repressive regime.”

Khaleda also promised that they will ensure the security of the country and its people, and make it prosperous if BNP returns to power. “We’ll free the country from corruption and terrorism and brighten its image at the global stage.”

Earlier, LDP president Oli Ahmed and secretary general Redwan Ahmed delivered the welcome speech at the party.

A munajat was offered before the iftar seeking peace and prosperity of the country.

BNP standing committee members RA Gani, Moudud Ahmed, Jamiruddin Sircar, MK Anwar, Nazrul Islam Khan, Dr Moyeen Khan, BNP vice chairmen Abdullah Al-Noman, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Selima Rahman, joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu, Mahbubuddin Khokan, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Abdul Latif Nizami and Kalyan Party chairman Mohammad Ibrahim and Islamic Party chief Abdul Mobin, among others, attended the programme.
