RAB has arrested five leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from various parts of Gazipur on charges of planning to stage chaos during the shutdown on Wednesday.
Jamaat’s Gazipur district unit chief Md Abul Hashem is among those arrested.
The others are the Jamaat unit’s Assistant Secretary Jamal Uddin and his wife Nazmun Nahar (a central working council member of ‘Mohila Jamaat’), district working council member Moulana Nasrullah and leader Kamaruzzaman.
RAB-1 has confirmed the news of their arrest.
Police arrested three more activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir in cases filed over vandalism and torching of vehicles.
