As if the song “tabu amare debo na vulite” in Firoza Begum’s voice were filling the air when she was being taken to Banani graveyard where she was laid to eternal rest on Wednesday.

The maestro of Nazrul song was paid tribute at the Central Shahid Minar from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Solemn tributes from tens and hundreds of her fans and admirers were showered upon the legendary singer.

Firoza Begum’s relatives, friends, fans, newsmen and well-wishers thronged at the Central Shahid Minar to see her for the last time.

After observing silence for a minute in her honour, her body was taken to Azad Mosque at Gulshan for Nama-e-Janaza.

Earlier today at 8:00am her body was taken to her Indira Road’s residence from the Apollo Hospital’s cold storage.

Firoza Begum, one of the most important Nazrul singers whose tireless effort revived Nazrul songs from near decline, died at the hospital at about 8:30pm.
